ABSTRACT: This research investigates the role of early childhood education in teaching urban farming practices to young children. Early exposure to urban farming can promote sustainable living and food security. Objectives included evaluating children's understanding of urban farming, identifying effective educational practices, and assessing the long-term benefits of early urban farming education. A survey design was chosen for its capacity to gather comprehensive data. Purposive sampling was employed to select 180 children from preschools in Lagos State, Nigeria. Findings revealed that children exposed to urban farming education demonstrated a better understanding and appreciation of urban farming practices. Activities such as interactive lessons on urban agriculture, hands-on farming projects, and visits to urban farms were particularly effective. The study recommended incorporating urban farming education into early childhood curricula to promote sustainable living and food security from an early age.
